A Day of Smiles, Costumes, and Best Friends: Experiencing Keys Friendship Day by Noey Madulid, Grade 6-Araullo

Imagine yourself walking into your classroom and being greeted with big smiles by none other than the Harry Potter franchise themselves. Don't worry! It's just your friends, and they're dressed up for none other than the awaited event: Friendship Day.

As the school year progresses, this annual occasion approaches, allowing everyone to celebrate with cool costumes and delicious delights to enjoy—a day to hang with besties and friendships without care.

And above all, it celebrates the people who make our lives all the better. And what better way to do that than have a whole day dedicated to just that?

Of course, at around 8:20 in the morning, students from all grade levels are starting to prepare for the upcoming event and have a nice chat with one another while doing so.

Passing around treats for their mutuals, or just simply having a good time, this organized chaos is soon stopped, as they must line up for the costume parade! Once everyone is settled, it begins with cheers and screams (mostly from the Upper Primary) and ends with everyone heading back to their classrooms.

The games begin! Everyone gathers 'round as their teachers announce various games, each having their own quirk to it. These games often strengthen the bond of the mutual friendship the students have with each other, or just allow people to laugh and be silly.

After eating and running around, everyone is dismissed early, with either a big smile on their face or a sleepy mood, ready to see their friends again after a long weekend.

But what exactly is the meaning behind Friendship Day? What do YOU think? Is it spending time with your friends, cherishing the moments and memories? Or may it be something different altogether?

Personally, friendship means the alliance, care, and trust of two or more people, like peas in a pod. It means something special to me.

Because we grow up with our friends and mutuals, our bond with them only strengthens, and this special day is a reminder of that. A reminder about the people who make our lives better, if not easier—and turn our stay on Earth into something that words can't describe.

It matters a lot to me because we can show how much we care for our friends who help us through our lives with the jokes they make, the fun we have, and their comfort in tough times. They play such an important role in our short time and make things easier if not better.

It is what Friendship Day is about—the people who make our lives better. For many years to come, Keys will continue celebrating and spreading this wonderful day of kindness and joy, for friendship!!
