LITERACY
Reading and writing are fraternal twins. A good reader enjoys writing; a good writer loves reading. Students learn to express better their thoughts, feelings and ideas as they read more and write more. Their writing takes on a style and tone that uniquely becomes a self-signature.
Our units of study prepare students to the inevitable romance between grammar and creative writing. Lessons give students a clear and good understanding of the rules of spelling, punctuation, word syntax that will help them unlock metaphors and nuances hidden in many literary genres of reading and writing.
But writing is a long and tiresome process. It demands humility and discipline to dot the i’s and cross the t’s thru countless edits and rewrites. Reading-for-pleasure and writing-for-excellence, like competitive sports, come with the price tag of long hours of practice, practice, and practice.
